University of Georgia Plant Synthetic Biology Post-Baccalaureate Intern Position
About:
The Buell Lab at the University of Georgia is seeking a post-baccalaureate intern to join a project focused on construction of a minimal plant genome. This will be an 11-month paid internship with a competitive salary. The position is available from May 2025 through April 2026.
As a member of the Minimal Plant Genome project, you will be involved in gene editing of repetitive and dispensable sequences in the Arabidopsis genome and learn plant biology, genetics, genomics, and synthetic biology. With respect to skill development, the intern will receive training in molecular biology, genome engineering, and biotechnology but most importantly develop skills in scientific research including the development of hypotheses, data interpretation, and critical thinking. This paid internship will provide valuable experience for B.Sc. students interested in pursuing biotechnology and synthetic biology either as a professional or in graduate studies.
Requirements:
• B.Sc. in life sciences, genetics, biotechnology, genomics, or related degree.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Self-motivated, with ability to set and accomplish goals.
• Excellent oral communication and writing skills.
• English language fluency.
